The Scottish Community and Householder Renewables Initiative is a Scottish Executive scheme promoting the use of renewable energy in communities and homes throughout Scotland.

One quarter of all the UK's emissions of carbon dioxide (the key climate change gas) comes from household use of fossil fuels. Scottish householders have a vital role to play in lowering our greenhouse gas emissions, and in helping to reach Scotland's target of generating 40% of electricity from renewable sources by 2020.

To help Scottish householders play their part in protecting the environment, and to help build a thriving renewable energy industry in Scotland, SCHRI provides grants for a range of technologies. Automated wood fuel heating systems are one of the technologies eligible for grant.

Funding for householders is set at 30% of the installed cost up to £4,000.
